How to Read Notes And Relate it to the Violin?
How do we present music pitch or a song on paper? Through a system of made up of lines, notes and musical symbols.
For instance, the song ‘Happy Birthday’, the first line ‘Happy Birthday to You’….is represented on the music score like this:
(1) The Music Staff: The music staff consists of 5 lines.
(2) Music Notes can be put on each line of the music staff.
(3) Music Notes can be put on each space of the music staff.
Each of those lines and each of those spaces represents a different letter, which in turn represents a note or pitch. The letters or notes moves up sequentially in a set of 7 notes , A, B, C, D, E, F, G then back to A and moving up again.
For note reading with respect to playing the violin, we will begin with the reference note A (on the 2nd space). The note A is the second open string on the violin.
From the note A, we scale up 4 more notes to note E.
A, B, C, D, E are notes on the violin A string.
